INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

About the Subject

Information Technology is a rapidly expanding and exceptionally diverse industry. Information Technology or I.T., mainly deals with computer applications. All our work-related applications are now completely automated, IT professionals are people involved in the essential management of sensitive data, computer networking and software engineering. It covers a broad spectrum of hardware and software solutions that enable organizations to gather, organize, and analyze data that helps them achieve their goals.

At the Higher Secondary Certificate level, the subject of Information Technology is separate for the Arts and Science streams. However, both streams have an Online Theory Examination (80 marks) and a Practical Examination of 20 marks. Sufficient examination practice is provided especially to HSC students for mastery learning and numerous internal tests are administered for confidence-building among students.

At Sophia Jr. College, admission to Information Technology is based strictly on Merit as we have 30 seats for Arts students (excluding Vocational Arts students) and 30 seats for Science stduents. I.T. is offered as a subject instead of a Second Language (Hindi and French). It is a self-financed subject (i.e. unaided Subject) for which there is a separate Fee.
